Built more like a piece of architecture than a typical lamp base, this design stacks two flat marble panels, veined in cool grey, on either side of a slim brass rod running up the middle, like a miniature doorway or a stone monolith split down the center. The marble's natural striations run vertically, reinforcing the tall, rectangular geometry of the whole piece rather than fighting it. Up top, a boxy charcoal-grey shade with crisp corners echoes the base's straight edges, finished with a small round brass finial that's the only curve in an otherwise entirely rectilinear design. Photographed alone against white, the lamp reads modern and a little severe in the best way — a graphic, architectural object built for someone who wants their lighting to look considered rather than soft.
